Local history from 2015…

It’s not unusual for communities to come together during tragedy, but my small community of Wimberley had two tragic and unprecedented floods to both the Blanco River and Cypress Creek in one year.

Memorial weekend and Halloween weekend of 2015. The devastation was unthinkable. Destroying everything in its path.

These people are WIMBERLEY STRONG and TOUGH and CARING and people of ACTION. It is a time that reminds you that we truly are all in this crazy world TOGETHER.

My painting “As the River Prays” was created, after floods, to remind myself  of the beauty of the rivers — with all of its healing properties.

Written on the back of the original is “What defines us is how well we rise after falling”.

Ironically, the original will never be sold (again).  A friend of mine actually bought it, and despite double boxing and packing…it was smashed on the postal conveyor belt. Snapped in two.

Needless to say, we were both upset by the damage. She was refunded and returned the broken painting to me.

The “funny” thing is …. It was painted on claybord (an amazing product from Ampersand which is a panel coated with multiple thin layers of clay) … so, I was able to snap it back into place!

There is a visible fissure, however the painting is still as beautiful as ever. Wow…just like the river itself. Broken and ripped apart, yet it’s beauty will still shine through. It has a special place in my home. Every time I look at it I am reminded that we can be broken and still be beautiful. Pulling ourselves out of anything that may try to damage us.

Why am I sharing this with you if I cannot sell you the painting?  I am thankful to be able to provide prints and merchandise with this “can’t knock me down” river painting.

Now that you know a little bit of history on this image… representing strength, togetherness, and repair/regrowth. Here are the items available, and there are so many selections of merchandise to choose from with this Wimberley river.

I hope you enjoy shopping around and finding just the right one for you or to give as a gift.

As always... thank you for your care and support!
